What’s the next step?
Ready to adopt a Labradoodle puppy? Here is exactly how adoption works at Family Labradoodles in Yorktown, VA, from your first application to the day your puppy comes home. Our Goldendoodle families follow the very same steps.
Step one is our Puppy Adoption Application. It gives us an idea of what your family is looking for in a puppy (male or female, size, color, and so on), and it only takes a few minutes on our Contact Us page.
When your completed application is received and approved, we will contact you with information about updated litter availability, both current and expected litters.
Upon approval, a $400 deposit via check, Zelle, or Venmo to secure your puppy reservation. We allow families to choose their puppy (with our guidance) in the order of deposit received. If you can’t find your puppy in the selected litter you may roll your deposit over to a subsequent litter or of course request a full refund. Only after a specific puppy is chosen is the deposit non-refundable and applied to the purchase price.
Once the puppies are born, we will work together with you and your family to best meet your expectations (and wishes) while evaluating your perfect puppy for your family’s needs. We have been doing this a very long time and want only the best for you and for your puppy. It is our hope that the next 14 years + be enriched and filled with the joy that comes from a happy, well-bred and properly placed family dog
The Next 8 Weeks
From birth until the end of week 2, your puppy will be blind and deaf. More importantly, he will not be able to maintain his own body temperature, so during this critical period your pup will never be left alone.
Your puppy will be handled and weighed daily, gently worked with each day, and kept warm, clean, and safe. Socialization begins early, as does a myriad of stimuli; that’s when their little lives start to get interesting. You will receive periodic updates and pictures of your puppy’s activities and development during their stay here with us.

Puppies will be ready to go to their new homes and families at 8 weeks of age. Balance will be due in full when you pick up your puppy.
A copy of your contract/sales agreement and health guarantee can be signed at the time of pick-up, and a signed copy will be included in your puppy packet. We will not release your puppy until all parties understand and have agreed to the full terms stated therein. You may view our puppy contract here.
You are always welcome to pick up your puppy here in Yorktown, and we are happy to meet you ½ way up to 2 hours from Yorktown at no charge. Our closest airports are Norfolk (ORF), Newport News/Williamsburg (PHF), and Richmond (RIC).
We also offer car and air courier service for families farther away. Our Puppy Nannies can courier your puppy by car, with travel fees that depend on distance, or a trusted courier can fly in cabin with your puppy to your closest airport. You pay the courier’s fee directly, and their schedules fill up fast, so please let us know early.
